NYS Bridge Plan coverage ends on June 30, 2013

The NY Bridge Plan, New York State's Pre-Existing Condition Plan (PCIP)  will no longer provide coverage after June 30, 2013.

All current enrollees are being provided with the opportunity to transition over to the federal PCIP from July 1 through December. 31, 2013.     (On January 1, 2014, PCIP ceases to exist, due to Affordable Care Act implementation and the availability of Health Insurance Exchange coverage.)  Letters were sent to all affected individuals.  See this benefits summary flyer and  benefit transition grid for more information about federal PCIP coverage policies and cost sharing.

The federal PCIP is not accepting new applications - the transitional coverage is only available to current enrollees.

For more information, see the announcement on the NY Bridge Plan website.

PCIPs, including the NY Bridge Plan, have been partially funded by the federal government and subject to federal regulations established under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. GHI had been administering the PCIP (NY Bridge Plan) in this state.  PCIP is the insurance pool for uninsured high risk individuals, who are people with pre-existing medical conditions that are expensive to treat.  It has been providing coverage since October 1, 2010; the NY Bridge Plan stopped accepting new enrollees as of March 3, 2013.
