Thank you for supporting Selfhelp -- for donating or coming to Selfhelp's benefit reception!

21 Mar, 2011

Thank you to all who came to our our third annual benefit reception on March 3, or those who made a generous donation.   Those who attended heard  poignant words by honoree Gail Sheehy, best-selling author of Passages 30 years ago and more recently "Passages in Caregiving - Turning Chaos into Confidence" about  lessons learned from her 17-year odyssey in caring for her late husband before he died from cancer.  There were well-deserved cheers for honorees    DAVID GOLDFARB  (Elder Law Attorney of the Year --  just featured in this article in the Staten Island Advance) and Ron Mayer (Pro Bono award for five years of volunteer work at Selfhelp).

There was a wonderful feeling of camaraderie and celebration of the community we share.. .so important in these very difficult times with threatened cutbacks in the services that are so vital to help the most vulnerable remain independent. Congregation Rodeph Sholom provided a beautiful environment.

Of course, it's never too late to make a donation to support Selfhelp's Legal Resources Program and help us maintain this website.

Please go to http://selfhelp.net/donate and at the drop-down list after this question -- If you, a family member, or a friend have received services from Selfhelp, please indicate which program -- please select the Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program.

With many thanks from Valerie Bogart, Director, and David Silva, Assistant Director
